Our history

2023

Daniel Vega Gonzalez becomes a partner at Materné to strengthen its internal structure.

2022

Further acquisitions of the offices of Patrick Linotte and Ben Schoeters bring the total number of employees to 27.

2020

During the corona crisis, the acquisition of Vapaver and the joining of Xavier Van Paeschen as an active partner followed.

2015

Acquisition of Groep Steegen from Ronny Merckx, which remains active in providing advice to clients.

2013

Olivier Swolfs, an entrepreneur friend, joins as partner and co-director following his successful business sale to Colruyt.

2008

The firm acquires insurance group Busschots and continues to grow.

2005

Kris Materné takes over the firm as the fourth generation.

1993

The firm acquires insurance firm Beyers&Wauters.

Extension

Materné will become an insurance broker for all lines of insurance and expand its expertise to provide advice to companies with more specific insurance needs.

1976

Marc takes the step to become an insurance broker in chief. The business starts to grow, leading to the hiring of the first employee.

1972

After Jules' unexpected death, Marc took over the insurance business as the third generation at the age of 29.

After World War II

Jules Materné, Louis' son, takes over the insurance business. He combines this with his job as a teacher in Deurne and still works in a secondary capacity. His weekends and holidays are often spent in Kasterlee to keep in touch with the community.

1920-1930

Louis Materné starts the insurance business after the First World War. As sjampetter (field constable) in Kasterlee, he becomes a trusted advisor for people wanting to insure their buildings against fire, as well as for life insurance. The increasing use of cars strengthens the demand for his advice.
